Outreach Strategy
The content on this page is designed to provide pastors and other ministry leaders with strategies and tools to help your church grow in evangelism.
Equipping Churches to Reach the Lost
In an increasingly divided world, it has become difficult to reach people with the Gospel. Negative stereotypes and hostility towards Christians have made outreach and our mission to reach men and women with the gospel, challenging. Because of this, many churches are adding members almost exclusively through transfer growth (Christians leaving one church and joining another) as opposed to conversion growth (Non-Christians coming to Christ).
In order to see conversion growth, churches need to equip their members to reach out. This is where Proclaim can help. Over the last 20 years Proclaim has been helping Christians understand that all followers of Christ are called to help others become followers of Christ. Each session provides biblical motivation and practical training in how to join God in unstoppable spread of the gospel.
Creating a Culture of Evangelism
The Proclaim course is just one part of a broader outreach strategy that earnestly seeks to reach the lost. This three-step approach not only equips members with practical tools and confidence to share the Gospel, but also fosters a congregation-wide commitment to the Great Commission, ensuring that evangelism becomes an ongoing and shared focus.
Build an Evangelistic Church
Equipping the church is a key ingredient when it comes to creating a culture of evangelism. But there are other strategic initiatives that will position your church to reach the lost and grow through conversions.
STEP 1
Develop your convictions
STEP 2
Equip your church
Run Proclaim in a small group or Sunday School setting.
Use “How Good are You?” booklets to share the gospel.
STEP 3
Reach your community
Run the Bridge Course and invite neighbors, co-workers, family members and friends.
Run Grief Share, Divorce Care, Cancer Care, ReBoot, and other outreaches.
Use Digital Outreach to increase attendance.

Does your church value the role of an Evangelist?
Evangelism is probably the most difficult area of the Christian life. I should know–I’ve been a full-time evangelist for over 25 years with a large church in the Philadelphia area.

Shaping Virtues & Our Witness
Years ago I was leading a Bible Study with an eclectic group of new Christians and some non-Christians. The last study was on the importance of the local church. And after the meeting I was talking to one of the participants and I wasn’t sure where he stood with everything.

The Top 10 Myths That Keep Us from Sharing the Gospel
I love Top 10 lists, especially the ones on Sports Center, which rank the greatest successes (and sometimes failures) in sports. There’s even a website dedicated to the Top 10 of everything. There’s something that pulls us in when it comes to rankings and lists like this.

Is Evangelism a Spiritual Gift?
If you could change anything about yourself to make you more effective in evangelism, what would you change? I’ve asked this question to many people, over many years, in many different places.

Looking at People
What do you do when you encounter people who are self-righteous and arrogant? Roll your eyes? Make an excuse to walk away from them? Give them some self-righteousness of your own?

Do Not Become Weary
I’ve been trying to reach out to people ever since I became a Christian many years ago.
